King Lear π€΄πΌ
All's well here at The Dispatch. The snails have all gotten very into Shakespeare recently. They are planning on putting on a performance of King Lear and have asked us to help make the costumes. They also say that they want a 3D printer so that they can obtain the highest level of detail in the set pieces. We're going to get them some clay from the craft store and let them work with that first. They seem very excited about the whole production, but we'll see if they end up maintaining focus long enough to put it on.
Game Boy πΎ
- More Magic The Gathering: Arena
- Doing a lot of Quick Drafts in the ONE set and feels good to have a certain intuition for the specific set and for drafting in general
- Starting to experiment more with just picking powerful cards and not necessarily worrying as much about the archetypes
Coding Corner π¨π»βπ»
- I decided to not merge in a change
- I'd been working on an architectural change to make the app load faster
- But even though I thought it would be helpful, I also saw it would be risky and could cause other issues in our beta testing which would cause more work
- It made me think of cutting a card from a MTG deck and I think I'm now more prone to make these kind of code "cuts" because of my experience in MTG
The Mountain Goats Concert π
- Went to see The Mountain Goats at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro
- The vibe was good, it was sold out and a standing show
- They were playing a second of two nights at Cat's Cradle, so there were some deeper cuts that probably weren't in the first show
- He played a few songs just by himself on acoustic, and played "Distant Stations" and forgot a line and I shouted it out
- I'd love to just listen to a whole set by himself, but the band was good too and they played some good songs off of The Sunset Tree
Albums π§
- "Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You" by Big Thief
- Listened a couple times; solidly the album I listen to in order to get in a good headspace
- "Capacity" by Big Thief
- Fleetwood mac energy; not much new to say
- "The Record" by boygenius
- Listened a few times; Getting to be a background album and not sure how I feel about that; might want to stop listening to it so impulsively unless I am actively listening to it
- "Are You Serious" by Andrew Bird
- The violin sound and groove
- "The Window Is The Dream" by Jana Horn
- Very cool lyrics delivered in a prose-y way that sort of reminded me of Mount Eerie; accompanying band and especially the guitarist were good additions
- "Stranger in the Alps" by Phoebe Bridgers
- Listened a couple times; Motion Sickness is an all time classic now
TV Shows & MoviesπΏ
- Attack on Titan
- Getting to the very end of the series
- It's wild and feeling like a satisfying ending that isn't ending the way it's "supposed" to
